Each year, CONAPAC distributes school supplies to partner communities. Every child, teacher, and school receives supplies, timed for the start of the school year, to help lessen the financial burden on families and promote education in the community. In addition to individual school supply packets, we also deliver toys, balls, books, art supplies and more over the course of a week with volunteer help. (Are you interested in volunteering? Keep reading and click the link below!)

On the day of delivery, students, teachers, parents, and volunteers gather in a shared space. Sometimes that space is inside a classroom or the community building, or it might be in a gazebo overlooking the river in a small community with only a primary school. We may even be outside in large communities where there are many students in all grade levels, preschool and kindergarten, primary school and high school. Using the enrollment lists provided by teachers, we call each student to the front, where they receive a packet containing essentials for the start of the school year. Because school supplies are developmentally appropriate, students in secondary grades receive different supplies than first-grade primary students, for instance. Teachers also receive customized packets to support their work in the classroom.

We plan on distributing over 2000 packets next school year!

Cynthia with Pachita, both Adopt-A-School donors and volunteers

"You never know where life will take you. I signed up to be an Adopt-A-School volunteer for one week in 2005. And, not only am I still involved with this great organization, but along the way I moved to Peru for ten years to run CONAPAC. After retiring from this position, I have continued to volunteer, and currently I serve on the board of directors. I still adopt a school each year and support the water monitoring program, too. I've also met the most incredible people who come to Peru to volunteer their time and support to the programs. No matter where you're from, working together to help others bonds you in amazing ways. Volunteering for CONAPAC was the best 'YES' decision of my life."

Coming Soon--GivingTuesday!

This GivingTuesday and the rest of December, we hope you will donate to our Adopt-A-School program to help us provide school supplies to every child in our partner communities. Our end-of-year goal is 65,000, and we believe we can reach it with your help! (All donations are received by our partners, the Detroit Zoo; 100% of your donation is transferred directly to CONAPAC.) Every child deserves the opportunity to learn and succeed. Help us give them the tools they need.

Here is how you can get ready to give:
-Mark your calendar.
-Give. On December 2, go to https://www.conapac.org/be-involved and give. There you can see ways to support us in our mission to promote conservation of the rainforest through education.
-Spread the word. Encourage your friends and family to join you in creating real impact on December 2 by sharing what our mission means to you and why you support our organization

Want to donate?

We have several long-time donors and partner organizations who work tirelessly for CONAPAC; with you, we can do so much for our communities.

Our work is only possible with the many other donations, big and small, that we receive throughout the year.
