AAS = Education = Conservation
As we celebrate Earth Day this month remember that CONAPAC is working to provide conservation education to the stewards and the future stewards of the Amazonian rainforest--a benefit for all of Earth. Here are some photos of kids, parents, teachers, and volunteers from Adopt-A-School 2026 deliveries.
How we use your donations
Supporting young learners has been a top priority for us ever since CONAPAC first began partnering with communities. The school supplies we provide to each child help reduce parents' financial burden, thereby reducing the strain on forest resources driven by profit motives.
Funds in our Adopt-A-School program are used to:
Purchase developmentally appropriate school supplies, books, and toys.
Support teachers through capacity-building workshops focused on environmental education.
Connect education specialists directly with rural schools during start-of-year visits and end-of-year evaluations.
Your dollars directly support each child in our partner communities as they learn to value and appreciate the forest where they live. In turn, these future guardians of the forest will ensure that their children also have the resources they need.
Every donation makes a difference in the program's success; this year's donations will support our Adopt-A-School Program for 2027. And when you donate $450 or more, you'll receive a packet of letters and drawings from one of our partner community schools, along with a photo of the community school group!
During the second Adopt-A-School week we delivered school supplies to the final few of our 49 CONAPAC partner communities on day one. We then spent four days at Santa Isabel finishing the building of a school kitchen, a children's playground, and an outdoor classroom space (maloca) with the community members there. Fun activities with the community's children included storytelling and crafts and painting birdhouses to place in the schoolyard. More about that in next month’s blog!
Thanks to all who donated so far this year!
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn and succeed. And it's never too late to add a contribution to help us give them the tools they need. (All donations are received by our partners, the Detroit Zoo; 100% of your donation is transferred directly to CONAPAC.)
Want to donate?
We have several long-time donors and partner organizations who work tirelessly for CONAPAC; with you, we can do so much for our communities.
Our work is only possible with the many other donations, big and small, that we receive throughout the year.
